Terms & Conditions

Autobahn School of Motoring Limited provides first class, professional driving tuition services to clients subject to the following terms and conditions:-

Your first lesson with Autobahn School of Motoring:-

  • The pupil must be able to present both parts of his or her signed UK Provisional Driving Licence for Group 'B' Cars (or full UK licence for Group 'B' cars if applicable) for inspection at the start of the first lesson. If the pupil cannot do this or the licence is not valid then the lesson will not proceed but the pupil will still be charged for it. Foreign residents driving on an international licence must first apply for and obtain a valid UK Provisional Licence before starting lessons with Autobahn School of Motoring. Pupils must also be able to read a new-style number plate at 20 metres away at the start of their first lesson. These are the legal requirements for learning to drive. You can wear contact lenses or glasses during this eyesight test but in that case you must wear the contact lenses or glasses whenever you drive. If you fail the eyesight test then the lesson cannot proceed but you will still be charged for it. Therefore it is a good idea to check your eyesight before your first lesson.
  • Remember you can apply for your first provisional driving licence up to three months before your 17th birthday. You will need to be in possession of your provisional driving licence before you can take any driving lessons, but if you want a lesson on you seventeenth birthday you can book your lessons at any time beforehand.
  • Payment:-

  • For Pay As You Go (PAYG) lessons, the lesson fees must be paid in full at the start (i.e. not at the end) of the lesson in cash. If the pupil cannot pay then the lesson will not proceed but the lesson fees will still have to be paid.
  • Autobahn School of Motoring Limited does not provide credit under any circumstances whatsoever. Any money owed (e.g. for "no show" lessons) must be paid within 21 days otherwise the case may be referred to a debt collection agency (in which case further charges may be made).
  • Autobahn School of Motoring no longer accepts cheques as a method of payment for standard (i.e. non-intensive) lessons. We can, however, accept cheque payments for intensive courses but the cheque must clear before the course starts. PAYG lessons and non-intensive block bookings must therefore be paid for in cash. We do accept cheque payments for DSA test bookings but the test will not be booked until the cheque has cleared.
  • Fitness to Drive:-

  • The pupil must be in a fit state to take the lesson, i.e. not excessively tired/fatigued and not under the influence of drugs (legal or illegal) or alcohol.
  • If, in the opinion of the instructor, the pupil is not in a fit state to take the lesson then the instructor reserves the right to refuse tuition. In that case the lesson is still chargeable in full.
  • Cancellations:-

  • If you need to cancel an appoinment then please give as much notice as possible. If you fail to give at least 48 hours cancellation notice then the instructor reserves the right to charge you in full for the lesson.
  • Where the pupil fails to attend a pre-arranged lesson, the instructor will wait a maximum of 15 minutes before leaving. This will be then classed as a "no show" for which the pupil will be liable for a no show fee which will equal to the lesson price.
  • Lessons Paid In Advance and Block Bookings:-

  • If you pay for a block of lessons in advance then all the lessons must be taken within 6 months of the payment date (except by prior arrangement when making the payment) otherwise they will expire and no refund will be issued for unused lessons.
  • Payments block bookings and intensive courses are strictly non-refunable. So if you stop taking driving lessons (for whatever reason), there will be no refund for any unused hours.
  • The Official DSA Driving Test:-

  • The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) considers it the driving instructors responsibility to ensure candidates are ready before presenting them for the Driving Test. Your instructor must be of the opinion that you are ready for your test and that have a very good chance of passing it before you can take it. Due to long waiting times for a test date, it is sometimes necessary to book a pupil's test before the pupil has reached the necessary standard (in anticipation of the pupil being ready by the date of the test) but as the test date approaches, the instructor reserves the right to re-arrange or cancel the test should the pupil not be ready.
  • Autobahn School of Motoring is not liable for late arrival for a test, or missing a test appointment. We cannot be held liable for any consequential costs due to vehicle light failure during any tests, however, these will be checked by you and your instructor during the pre-test lesson.

Extra or special terms and conditions may apply to special offers.
